Message in a bottle.
The goal of a green product: to be as good for the earth as it is for the skin. We asked Bryan Meehan, the creator of Nude Skincare to break a bottle of Age Defence Moisturiser down to its barest essentials.

Aloe Barbadensis leaf extract – Organic Aloe Extract contributes soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Maurita Flexuosa fruit oil – Extracted from the pulpy fruit of the buriti tree, this oil is certified and rich in vitamin A.
Theobroma grandifloran seed butter – From the cupuacu tree, it is a thickener with anti-inflammatory properties and moisturising.
Bono – one of the principle investors, the U2 frontman/nobel prize nominee/British knight is behind the bottle, if not inside it. His wife, Ali Hewson, even suggested the company’s name (Nude spelt backward is Edun, Hewson’s socially conscious clothing line).
Sales counter – The cases at every Nude counter are made with 100 percent post-consumer recycled glass. At their UK store the floor certified sustainable rubber and the sales people wear 100 percent organic-cotton uniforms with corozo-nut buttons.
Carbon Neutral – Nude makes donations to a trust that benefits worldwide emissions-reductions projects. To learn more visit puretrust.org.uk.
Butyrosperumum parkii – Organic fair-trade Shea Butter gives the texture and slip that petroleum and silicone would provide to conventional products.
Argania Spinosa Leaf Extract – Extracted from the leaves of the Argan tree, active ingredient, Arganyl, protects against free radicals. Nude’s Argan comes from a sustainable plantation in Morocco.
Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea Seed Oil – Certified Organic oil is extracted from the seeds of the lingonberry – a rich source of alpha-linoleic acid, an omega 3 fatty acid that moisturises and brightens the skin.
Scent – One hundred percent natural jasmine, rosewood and orchid oils, plus vanilla bean-water provide the fragrance.
Package – The flat-edged bottles are stackable for shipping, which eliminates the need for individual boxes. The plastic (PP 5) polypropylene – isn’t readily recyclable, but Nude provides prepaid envelope to send empty containers to a recycling facility.
Wrapper – To keep the products hygienically sealed, nude uses a compostable cornstarch shrink wrap.
