After years of the beauty industry concentrating on what goes on in the lower layers of the skin, one enterprising Irishman, Bryan Meehan, has taken a different tack.
Bryan came from a food background (he owned a string of organic supermarkets in the UK), with an interest in microbiotics. He wondered if, just as good bacteria can help your body on the inside, could it be beneficial on the outside?
Skin is covered in microflora- bacteria that keep skin at its optimum pH and protect it from invaders. Most skincare products, says Bryan, change the balance of microflora, making skin susceptible to irritations, dryness and environmental damage from UV and other free radicals.
So he created Nude, a new skincare range formulated to improve skin's microflora. With recyclable packaging it's a greenie's new best friend.
